Sea Container Shipping & Logistics (SCSL), representing Romania in the Motion Logistics Network, recently completed a complex shipment of used bottling line machinery. The shipment faced several challenges related to oversized cargo and inland transport. However, the SCSL team provided innovative solutions, completing the shipment within the expected timeframe.
The shipment included 8 out-of-gauge (OOG) packages and 12 containers (12*40’HC) of spare parts. One oversized box couldn’t fit into a container, so they arranged for it to be transported as breakbulk (BBK) on a flatbed, occupying the space equivalent to 6*40’FLAT containers.
A major challenge was the inland transport, as the 6-meter-wide box couldn’t pass through standard routes. They used alternative routes to ensure its delivery to the Port of Constanța. SCSL team worked with local authorities and transportation experts to arrange a safe, alternate route, guaranteeing the safe arrival of the cargo in the Port of Constanța. This meticulous coordination helped avoid delays and provided a smooth delivery process. The remaining oversized boxes were loaded on 4*40’FR as per the project plan.

At the Port of Constanța, the breakbulk cargo was swiftly discharged onto the berth and professionally lashed to the vessel on the flatbed, securing it for ocean transit. The seamless integration of various logistics processes led to the successful completion of the shipment, leaving the customer highly satisfied. The client praised the SCSL team's solution as both cost-effective and highly efficient.
Despite the logistical challenges, the project was executed without delays. Sea Container Shipping & Logistics' ability to provide tailored solutions while maintaining operational efficiency allowed the client to meet both their timeline and budget expectations.
Well done, team Sea Container Shipping and Logistics!
