The 2022 Annual Meeting: Hitting the Restart Button

The last two years have made us realize how fragile yet extraordinary life is. It allowed us all to slow down in this fast and ever-changing world and acknowledge what truly matters… family, friends and lifelong connections we made. We have all rediscovered ourselves and hit the restart button in some aspects of our lives, and this was precisely our aim with the 2022 Motion Annual Meeting in Dubai.

Founded in 2014, the network has continuously helped small and medium-sized freight forwarders offer tailor-made logistics solutions. Now with a new management team in place, the objective of this year's meeting was focused on reviving the network connections and bringing in new faces.

We kickstarted our social evening with a cocktail reception, allowing our members to ice-break in an informal setting. This was followed by an action-packed meeting day, where our attendees had the time to reacquaint and establish new business connections. Later on, our members winded down with a barbecue dinner under the stars, immersed themselves in traditional local entertainment in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, and truly experienced the Dubai desert.

On the last day, we had the honour of hosting Mr Yong Joon Son (Head of Commercial), Capt. Kipyo Hong (Head of Operations) from Hyundai Glovis and Mr Julian Skyrme (Director of Ports Commercial) from AD Ports Group. In conjunction with an interesting insight into routings, pricing and what's hot in the carrier industry from one of the world's leading carriers, our attendees also benefitted immensely from learning about how they could gain from the capacity and collaborations AD Ports has in the region. We ended the event with a Farewell Yacht Tour. The members thoroughly enjoyed some adrenaline rush with the water sports as we cruised along the Palm Jumeriah and enjoyed some great views off the shore of Dubai.

With this first event under the management, we are very humbled and grateful for the warmth and welcome exuberated by our members. We are lucky to have such strong support from the members and look forward to becoming the best version of ourselves and delivering on member expectations while continuing to grow.

With a successful restart behind us, next year’s annual event meeting will for sure be even bigger and better as we set out to carve new memories…
